Japan's Seafood Exports Show Overall Decline in July

According to trade statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, seafood exports (including seafood, prepared seafood products, and fishmeal) in July totaled 38,597 tons, down 35% year-on-year, with an export value of 30.532 billion yen (approximately USD 191.15 million), up 15% year-on-year.

Scallop exports declined in both volume and value, with export volume down 33% to 3,849 tons and export value down 10% to 6.145 billion yen (approximately USD 38.47 million).

Among frozen scallops, scallop meat (shelled) exports fell 32% to 856 tons, with export value down 2% to 3.878 billion yen (approximately USD 24.28 million).

Yellowtail fillet exports increased 34% to 1,242 tons, with export value up 77% to 4.206 billion yen (approximately USD 26.33 million).

Live yellowtail was exported entirely to South Korea, with export volume up 75% to 116 tons and export value up 69% to 217 million yen (approximately USD 1.36 million).

Live sea bream was also exported entirely to South Korea, with export volume down 14% to 458 tons and export value down 7% to 486 million yen (approximately USD 3.04 million).

Frozen mackerel exports increased 14% to 16,278 tons, with export value up 83% to 4.247 billion yen (approximately USD 26.59 million).

Frozen bonito exports dropped 83% to 325 tons, with export value down 77% to 870 million yen (approximately USD 544,616.28).

Frozen albacore tuna exports fell 90% to 353 tons, with export value down 85% to 212 million yen (approximately USD 1.33 million).

Frozen pollock exports surged 3.1 times to 1,773 tons, with export value up 4.1 times to 311 million yen (approximately USD 1.95 million).
