The Nanjing Navigation Channel of the Yangtze River and the Central Guangdong Navigation Channel have conducted a joint research visit, engaging in mutual learning and exchange.
To promote the intelligent development of channel maintenance and strengthen cross-regional technical exchange and mutual learning, the Guangdong Central Channel Affairs Center recently visited the Yangtze River Nanjing Channel Bureau for research and exchange, accompanied by relevant experts from the Water Transport Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport.

The research team conducted an on-site visit to the Dashengguan Channel Office, observed the achievements of standardized construction at grassroots channel offices, and gained detailed insights into the organizational operation models, daily maintenance, and equipment management of grassroots channel institutions. The Yangtze River Nanjing Channel Bureau performed live demonstrations of drones and unmanned vessels, showcasing the practical effectiveness of intelligent equipment in channel maintenance, emergency response, hydrological surveying, and other operational scenarios.
After the on-site research, the relevant units held a special discussion meeting. The Yangtze River Nanjing Channel Bureau and the Guangdong Central Channel Affairs Center respectively introduced their channel maintenance systems and mechanisms, as well as the progress of intelligent channel construction. In-depth discussions and exchanges were conducted on the application scenarios of drones in channel maintenance, management systems, airspace applications, operational support, technological innovation achievements, and challenges encountered in practical applications.
Liu Lei, Director of the Channel Research Office at the Water Transport Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport, combined the current state of industry development with research practices to propose constructive suggestions on aspects such as the implementation of drone channel inspection technology, the construction of standard systems, data integration and utilization, and safety risk prevention. These insights provided a scientific perspective and ideas for promoting the application of intelligent channel equipment. All parties shared practical experiences, analyzed real-world challenges, explored technical paths, learned from each other, and complemented each other's strengths, broadening the work ideas for intelligent channel construction.
This research initiative has established a cross-regional and cross-disciplinary business exchange platform, enhancing the sharing of experiences in intelligent channel construction among all parties. Moving forward, the relevant units will continue to strengthen communication and coordination, share practical experiences in intelligent channel construction, collaboratively explore application paths for intelligent channel equipment, and jointly promote the digital and intelligent transformation and upgrading of channels to better serve the high-quality development of water transport.
