　　Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, April 10 — On the morning of April 10, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Xi Jinping met in Beijing with the visiting delegation of the Kuomintang led by Chairman Cheng Liwen.

　　Xi Jinping welcomed Cheng Liwen and her delegation. He pointed out that the meeting between the leaders of the Communist Party of China and the Kuomintang after a decade holds significant importance for the development of relations between the two parties and across the Taiwan Strait. Compatriots on both sides of the Strait belong to the Chinese nation. Together with the people of all ethnic groups, including those in Taiwan, they have built a unified multi-ethnic country, written a glorious Chinese history, created a splendid Chinese civilization, nurtured a great national spirit, and forged a shared belief in the indivisibility of the territory, the unity of the nation, the cohesion of the people, and the continuity of civilization. This belief has guided the Chinese nation to persevere and ensured the enduring legacy of Chinese civilization.

　　Xi Jinping emphasized that regardless of changes in the international situation or the Taiwan Strait dynamics, the overarching trend of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation will not change, nor will the tide of closer ties and unity between compatriots on both sides of the Strait. Compatriots on both sides of the Strait yearn for peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, hope for improved and developed cross-Strait relations, and aspire for a better life. This is a responsibility that neither the Communist Party of China nor the Kuomintang can shirk, and it is also the driving force for cooperation. We are willing, on the basis of adhering to the "1992 Consensus" and opposing "Taiwan independence," to strengthen exchanges and dialogue with all political parties, groups, and individuals in Taiwan, including the Kuomintang, to seek peace for the Strait, welfare for compatriots, and rejuvenation for the nation, ensuring that the future of cross-Strait relations remains firmly in the hands of the Chinese people.

　　Xi Jinping proposed four points regarding the development of cross-Strait relations.

　　First, promote spiritual harmony through correct recognition. Compatriots on both sides of the Strait share the same roots, culture, and bloodline, forming a community of shared destiny. As family members, as long as we communicate well and consult on matters, no conflict or disagreement is insurmountable. Differences in social systems are not an excuse for division. The Communist Party of China, the Kuomintang, and compatriots on both sides of the Strait should uphold the national stance, inherit and promote Chinese culture, strengthen recognition of the Chinese nation, Chinese culture, and the great motherland, and enhance the pride, confidence, and determination of being upright Chinese people.

　　Second, safeguard the shared homeland through peaceful development. The mainland and Taiwan both belong to one China, which is the shared homeland of the Chinese nation. Compatriots on both sides of the Strait must protect and build this shared homeland, fundamentally by adhering to the "1992 Consensus" and opposing "Taiwan independence," with the core being the recognition that both sides belong to one China. Harmony in the family leads to prosperity. We welcome any proposals conducive to the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and will strive to implement any measures that promote peace. "Taiwan independence" is the culprit that undermines peace in the Taiwan Strait, and we will neither tolerate nor condone it. The Communist Party of China, the Kuomintang, and compatriots on both sides of the Strait must uphold the national interest, oppose "Taiwan independence" and external interference, promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, and steadfastly protect the shared homeland of the Chinese nation.

　　Third, enhance people's welfare through exchanges and integration. The goal of developing cross-Strait relations is to enable compatriots on both sides to live better lives. We will continue to uphold the concept of "one family across the Strait," actively addressing the needs of Taiwan compatriots, solving their difficulties, and doing good deeds for them. The mainland, with its magnificent landscapes and vast market, welcomes Taiwan compatriots to visit often, encourages young people from Taiwan to engage in exchanges and development on the mainland, and supports the entry of Taiwan's agricultural and fishery products and high-quality goods into mainland households. The Communist Party of China, the Kuomintang, and compatriots on both sides of the Strait should jointly expand exchanges, interactions, and integration to enhance the welfare and familial bonds of compatriots on both sides.

　　Fourth, achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through unity and struggle. This year marks the 160th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, whose lifelong pursuit was the revitalization of China and national unity. Today, we have successfully embarked on a path of Chinese-style modernization, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is unstoppable. We firmly believe that more Taiwan compatriots will come to correctly understand the mainland's social system and development path, and deeply realize that Taiwan's development prospects lie in a strong motherland and that the welfare of Taiwan compatriots is tied to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. This year marks the beginning of the mainland's "15th Five-Year Plan," and we are willing to share development opportunities and achievements with Taiwan compatriots, jointly strengthening the economy of the Chinese nation. The Communist Party of China and the Kuomintang should consolidate political mutual trust, maintain positive interactions, unite compatriots on both sides of the Strait, and work together to create a bright future of national unity and rejuvenation.

　　Cheng Liwen stated that people on both sides of the Strait are descendants of Yan and Huang, belong to the Chinese nation, are influenced by Chinese culture, and are all Chinese, one family. They should work together to promote Dr. Sun Yat-sen's vision of revitalizing China. The Communist Party of China and the Kuomintang should adhere to the "1992 Consensus" and oppose "Taiwan independence" as their common political foundation, strengthen political mutual trust, utilize communication platforms, commit to preserving Chinese history, promoting Chinese culture, advancing exchanges and cooperation in various fields such as grassroots, economic, trade, and cultural sectors, supporting youth exchanges and development, enhancing the shared welfare of the people, promoting the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, creating a bright future for cross-Strait relations, and achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
