Vietnam Cashew Export Prices Continue to Rise
According to the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas), Vietnam's cashew export prices continued to rise in the first half of 2026, up 3.0% compared to the same period in 2025. Although Vietnam's cashew production slightly declined and raw material costs remained high, export revenue still reached USD 2.4 billion. Export volume to China reached 81,150 tonnes, down 2.2% year-on-year, but export value grew 11.5% to USD 585.14 million.
Data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs (Ministry of Finance) shows that in June 2026, Vietnam exported 73,020 tonnes of cashews valued at USD 517.7 million, down 1.5% and 2.1% respectively month-on-month compared to May 2026, but up 7.5% and 11.7% respectively year-on-year compared to June 2025. In the first half of 2026, Vietnam's cashew export volume reached 341,400 tonnes with export revenue of USD 2.4 billion, with export volume down 0.9% but export value up 2.0% compared to the same period in 2025. This result indicates that the improving trend in average export prices helps offset the slight decline in export volume.
In June 2026, the average cashew export price was USD 7,089.5 per tonne, down 0.6% month-on-month from May 2026, but up 3.9% year-on-year compared to May 2025. In the first half of 2026, the average cashew export price was USD 7,014.8 per tonne, up 3.0% compared to the same period in 2025.
In the first half of 2026, Vietnam's cashew exports remained concentrated in two major markets, China and the United States, which together accounted for nearly 46% of Vietnam's total export value. In addition, exports to markets such as Canada, Thailand, Germany, and Spain showed strong growth, contributing to market diversification and reducing dependence on traditional markets.
In the first half of 2026, China was Vietnam's largest cashew export market, with an export volume of 81,150 tonnes valued at USD 585.14 million, accounting for approximately 23.8% of total export volume and 24.4% of total export value respectively. Although export volume to this market declined by 2.2%, the value still grew 11.5% compared to the same period in 2025. The United States was the second-largest cashew export market in the first half of 2026, with an export volume of 75,700 tonnes valued at USD 514.7 million, with export volume and value growing 8.0% and 8.3% respectively compared to the same period last year.
In Europe, in the first half of 2026, Vietnam's cashew exports to the Netherlands (an important EU transit gateway) declined by 9.6% in volume and 10.2% in value year-on-year. However, exports to Germany grew 21.3% in volume and 23.4% in value, while exports to Spain grew 23.1% in volume and 20.0% in value. This trend indicates that demand in certain direct consumption markets within the EU remains positive.
Overall, Vietnam's cashew exports remained stable in the first half of 2026, with a slight decline in export volume but growth in export value. However, Vietnam's cashew industry still faces numerous challenges, as high raw cashew prices have pushed up raw material costs, continuously squeezing the profit margins of processing enterprises.
