The egg market on Aug 25 saw mixed price movements in major regions. Average prices of brown and pink-shelled eggs slightly fluctuated, with a growing price gap. Producers maintained a steady supply as traders showed strong stocking interest, while downstream demand was influenced by school-opening and Mid-Autumn Festival preparations. High-priced areas saw slower transactions, with minimal inventory pressure overall. Egg prices are at a high point but could experience a steady-to-weak trend. Key futures data and regional price dynamics are also analyzed, providing valuable insights into the market outlook.

Egg Market Analysis
Today, egg prices in major producing regions showed mixed movements. The average price of brown-shelled eggs was RMB 5.28/jin, while pink-shelled eggs averaged RMB 5.17/jin, widening the price gap to 0.11. The average price in the main producing regions stood at RMB 5.26/jin, up RMB 0.04/jin from the previous trading day. Today’s egg market saw both gains and declines, with declines currently concentrated in the pink-egg regions.
The market currently presents a pattern of “fast turnover in producing regions, stability in sales regions.” Producers showed a strong willingness to ship, and supply from producing regions remained broadly stable; traders were fairly proactive in stocking up, with a relatively strong willingness to actively purchase. Transaction pace in high-priced regions slowed slightly, but inventory at each link stayed at low levels, without forming significant pressure. Together with the gradual release of school-opening stocking demand, market sentiment has received a certain boost, and short-term support for egg prices remains in place.

Egg Market Outlook
From the supply side, overall supply remained fairly stable, with goods in adequate supply. In some regions, traders’ willingness to participate in the market improved somewhat, with little surplus stock at each link and relatively controllable inventory pressure. In the spent-hen market, some small and medium-sized farms showed low enthusiasm for culling, and downstream digestion proceeded at an acceptable pace, with no obvious supply-demand imbalance.
From the demand side, Mid-Autumn Festival stocking is advancing steadily, with food processing companies mainly purchasing in batches as needed; the stocking window for the new school term has opened simultaneously. These two major demand nodes are releasing in succession, which is expected to provide sustained support for egg prices.
On the whole, egg prices are currently at a stage-high level, downstream purchasing pace has slowed noticeably, and the terminal market is mainly digesting earlier inventory, with limited new orders and a somewhat subdued trading atmosphere. Egg prices are expected to run steady-to-weak tomorrow, with some high-priced regions possibly facing slight downward correction pressure.
