IBI’s Lldoodoo Partners with China Railway Special Cargo Logistics to Launch the “Xinjiang Fresh Express” Cold-Chain Train Service

Recently, the “Xinjiang Fresh Express” cold-chain train service, jointly launched by Lldoodoo, a platform under IBI, and China Railway Special Cargo Logistics Co., Ltd., officially commenced operations at CRIntermodal’s Urumqi Central Station. Combining road and rail transport, the service opens a new outbound logistics corridor for fresh agricultural products from Xinjiang, marking a key step forward for IBI’s Zhiyun logistics business in the cold-chain sector.

The “Xinjiang Fresh Express” follows the operating philosophy of “Forward-positioning Xinjiang products beyond the region, with Lldoodoo safeguarding the journey.” Its approach can be summarized as follows: pre-cooling only at the place of origin, warehousing in Xi’an, stable freight rates through rail transport, and nationwide distribution of fresh fruit.

Built around a core model comprising “forward warehouses, trunk-line rail services, and collection and distribution at both ends,” the service integrates three core capabilities: backpack-style refrigerated container transport, end-to-end IoT-enabled temperature monitoring, and full-chain intelligent logistics scheduling. It serves the outbound transportation needs of Xinjiang’s specialty agricultural products, including fresh fruit, dried fruit, meat and dairy products.

Operating on a passenger-train-style timetable, the service runs once daily with scheduled departures and arrivals. The journey from Urumqi to Xi’an takes approximately 36 hours, three days less than previously required. The service achieves an on-time performance rate of up to 90% and is not affected by rain or snow. Each train can carry up to 55 wagons, while overall logistics costs are nearly 30% lower than those of road-only transportation.

The temperature inside each backpack-style refrigerated container can be precisely set between −30°C and +30°C. Each container is equipped with an independent refrigeration system, while automatic alerts operate throughout the journey and key data—including temperature, humidity and location—are transmitted in real time.

Li Qing, General Manager of IBI Xinjiang Digital Economy Headquarters, said in an on-site interview that the outbound transportation of Xinjiang fruit has long been constrained by high road transport costs, long transit times and substantial spoilage. Leveraging the China Railway Fresh Cold-Chain Express, Lldoodoo has addressed these bottlenecks through its model of “pre-cooling only at the place of origin and warehousing in Xi’an.” Products are pre-cooled at origin, while inventories are forward-positioned at the Xi’an hub for nationwide distribution, reducing overall logistics costs by nearly 30%.

By the end of 2025, Xinjiang’s fruit-growing area had reached 20.21 million mu, equivalent to approximately 1.35 million hectares, with an annual output of around 14.61 million metric tons. The “Xinjiang Fresh Express” provides an efficient outbound logistics corridor for this major industry.

The platform also provides four supporting services: digital trading, digital logistics, digital traceability and digital finance. Going forward, it will continue integrating the service with IBI’s cross-border expansion network, facilitating the entry of Xinjiang agricultural products into Central Asian and Belt and Road markets through hubs such as Horgos and Kazakhstan.

The launch of the “Xinjiang Fresh Express” represents an important example of IBI leveraging its industrial internet capabilities to empower agricultural product distribution and support the strategy of taking Xinjiang products to broader markets. From pre-cooling at the place of origin to distribution through forward warehouses in Xi’an, and from railway cold-chain services to intelligent full-chain logistics scheduling, Lldoodoo is building a new cold-chain corridor rooted in Xinjiang, supported by forward-positioned hubs and serving markets nationwide. This corridor will bring Xinjiang’s high-quality agricultural products to consumers across China at lower cost and with greater efficiency.
