Cloxacillin Sodium
Appearance: White powder or crystalline powder, hygroscopic, easily soluble in water.
Pharmacological effects: Belonging to the β - lactam class of antibiotics, it inhibits the synthesis of bacterial cell wall peptides, causing bacterial cell wall defects and resulting in the loss of cell wall protection. Under the strong osmotic pressure inside the cell, bacteria expand, rupture, and die. It has bactericidal effects on Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, pneumococcus (especially drug-resistant strains), and other bacteria.
² Function and use: It is mainly used for the treatment of animal infectious diseases caused by sensitive bacteria, especially for various infections caused by penicillin resistant staphylococcus, such as septicemia, endocarditis, pneumonia, skin and soft tissue infections, etc. It can also be used for the mixed infection caused by Streptococcus pyogenes or Pneumococcus pneumoniae and penicillin resistant staphylococcus.
Usage and dosage: When taken orally, 5-10mg per 1kg body weight for horses, cows, sheep, and pigs, 10-20mg per 1kg body weight for dogs and cats, 2-3 times a day. The intramuscular injection dose is the same as the oral dose. Breast infusion for cows, 0.2g per milk compartment after milking, the same amount of infusion for non lactating cows' breasts, dissolved in an appropriate amount of injection water before use.
Adverse reactions: Allergic reactions may occur, with various types of rashes such as urticaria being the most common. White blood cell reduction, interstitial nephritis, etc. may also occur, and in severe cases, allergic shock may occur. High dose use may cause central nervous system toxicity reactions such as convulsions, and may also lead to kidney damage symptoms such as hematuria and proteinuria.
Attention: Animals with a history of allergy to penicillin drugs are prohibited from use. Before use, it is necessary to inquire in detail about the history of drug allergies and conduct a penicillin skin test. Animals with allergic diseases such as asthma and eczema should be used with caution.
