Vietnam Opens New Frozen Durian Processing Factory, First Batch of 54 Tons Shipped to China
On September 13, Ban Me Green Farm Joint Stock Company held an opening ceremony for its food processing factory in Dak Lak Province, Vietnam, and exported the first batch of 54 tons of frozen durian to China. The factory covers an area of 22,000 square meters, with an annual frozen durian production capacity of 15,000 tons and a passion fruit processing capacity of 13,000 tons.
Company representative Ms. Nguyen Thi Thai Thanh stated that the company plans to fully utilize the by-products of durian and passion fruit while processing these two crops. An agreement has already been signed with an Australian partner to purchase and process durian and passion fruit peels into biochar.
Le Trong Yen, Deputy Minister of the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, stated that Vietnam's durian export revenue reached USD 2 billion in the first eight months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 26%.
Yen added: "We need to focus on deep processing, producing products that the market demands, while building an overall Vietnamese agricultural brand, particularly the durian industry in Dak Lak Province. We also need to diversify production across different seasons rather than relying solely on frozen durian. Expanding into products such as avocado, chili, and passion fruit will further enhance the competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural exports."
Following the opening ceremony, the company signed cooperation agreements with buyers from Australia, China, and France.
